What’s the adoption process?
At A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue, we work with potential pet parents to find the right cat or dog for them. Our goals are to make sure AHOTO animals are placed in homes that are best suited for them and to make it easier for people to adopt their new furry family member. Here is an outline of our adoption process.
Submit application
Submit an application, then attend an adoption show (dogs) or set up a time to meet the animal (dogs & cats).
Application review
We will review the application and reach out to you to make sure we find the best match for both you and for the dog or cat.
Sign contract
We will send you a link to complete the adoption contract and pay the fee in order to finalize the adoption.
Take your pet home
Welcome your new dog or cat into your home!
We’ll send you helpful resources to guide you & your new furry family member as they settle in and adjust.
Please note that the steps outlined here are not always in this order. For example, sometimes applicants meet the animal(s) first, then they submit their application. Other times potential pet parents apply and then AHOTO will discuss the application and perform an Application Review prior to the applicant meeting the dog. All steps listed are important, but the process order may vary.
